Gujarat Fertilizers, EcoPhos to build modern animal feed plant in India
India's giant fertilizer maker Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals (GNFC) and Belgium-based animal feed phosphate manufacturer EcoPhos have partnered to build a state-of-the-art animal feed plant in Gujsrat state, India.
The two firms will form a joint-venture company for the purpose of setting up the animal feed plant, which will be capable of producing up to 150,000 tonnes annually.
Using EcoPhos' expertise, the animal feed grade di-calcium phosphate plant will be eco-friendly and energy-efficient, as well as use world-class technology using hydrochloric acid (HCl) and low grade rock phosphate as feed stock.
The plant will be located at GNFC's TDI Dahej site, Kumar Gupta said
Mohamed Takhim, CEO and founder of EcoPhos, which will be the majority shareholder in the joint-venture, said, ″This is a substantial step in the realisation of EcoPhos target to become the global market and cost leader in animal feed phosphates through its Animal Feed division.″
For his part, GNFC managing director, Dr. Rajiv Kumar Gupta, said, ″This future JV (joint-venture) proves once again GNFC´s endeavour to apply world-class, eco-friendly, high-tech technologies in their production sites.″
