Germany to support Vietnamese dairy products

Germany will support Vietnamese dairy products to penetrate the German market and is ready to transfer its milk production and packing technology, while providing livestock for Vietnam's cow breeding sector, said Robert Kloos, deputy minister of Agriculture, Foodstuff and Consumers Protection.

Kloos, who visits Vietnam in a move to boost ties in agriculture and trade, made the statement after visiting Vietnam Dairy Products Corporation (VNM) or Vinamilk, the leading Vietnamese dairy producer.

Kloos said that they are ready to transfer its milk processing technology, cows and facility development procedure as well as marketing to Vinamilk.

Mai Kieu Lien, chairwoman and general director of Vinamilk said the firm has annual growth of 25% in the last few years.

The Vietnam leading dairy producer plans to invest US$100 million to build new plants in addition to on-going constructed powder plant with annual capacity of 54,000 tonnes, two milk plants with annual capacity of 400 million litres and 64.4 million litres in Binh Duong province and Danang city.

Currently Vinamilk has 11 plants, producing 14 million products daily.
