Ukraine's meat output down in August

Ukraine's meat production in August was 68,541 tonnes, down by 3 percent compared to the month before.

However this is a 10.2 percent rise, compared to August 2006 according to  a representative of the Cabinet of Ministers as reported to Ukrainian News.

In the first seven months of the year, production of meat and by-products rose by 20.2 percent or 90,169 tonnes, compared to January-July 2006.

Meat production of meat saw a 3 percent increase to 70,672 tonnes in July.

In 2006, output of meat and by-products rose 19.8 percent to 684,269 tonnes.
