Brazil's pig production reaches record in 2021

 

 

Pig production in Brazil has hit a record in 2021, with the country's south region accounting for half of its national herd.

 

Brazil's pig inventory grew 3.2% last year, reaching 42.5 million animals, the largest national herd registered in the historical data series.

 

The south region continues to be the leading region for pig production with 21.4 million animals. With a 7.8% growth and 8.4 million head, Santa Catarina continues to lead at the state level, followed by Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul.

 

At the city level, Toledo (Paraná) had the largest herd once again, followed by Uberlândia (Minas Gerais) and Rio Verde (Goiás).
