Ukraine raises soy production by 135,000 tonnes in 2012

Ukraine planned to harvest 2,420,000 tonnes in 2012, an increase of 135,000 tonnes than previous year.

Increase of soy production will provide animal husbandry with high quality forage and reduce the cost of the animals feeding in the pig breeding, cattle, poultry and fish farming. That was announced by Andriy Hetya, Director of Livestock Department of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food at the Ministry board meeting.

"As by 2020, meat production is planned to be increased up to 3.1 million tonnes, forage intake will increase to the amount of 20 million. Therefore, the need for soy will grow to three million tonnes." said Andriy Hetya.
