Australia's Victoria mandates COVID-19 testing for all meat plant workers
Authorities in Australia's Victoria state have mandated that COVID-19 tests must be carried out on all high-risk facilities such as meat, poultry and seafood processing facilities and supermarket distribution centres, Reuters reported.
Victoria state has maintained a downward trend in new COVID-19 infections thanks to a quick containment of a second wave of the outbreak.
Victoria, Australia's second-most populous state, will ease more restrictions once daily cases fall below five but Daniel Andrews, Victoria Premier said the state will be flexible on the target.
On September 30, Victoria reported 13 new COVID-19 cases compared to 700 in early August. Australia has reported more than 27,000 COVID-19 cases and 886 related deaths, with 75% of infections and 90% of deaths accounted to Victoria.
