Agrifirm partners with Belgian feed company in takeover plan

In a media release, the Belgian compound feed company Quartes will be closely working together with Agrifirm. Both companies have a proven record in the compound feed industry in Belgium and their activities are highly complementary. By sharing knowledge and creating an efficient organisation, the strategic partnership and ultimate takeover by Royal Agrifirm Group will create better prospects for the future for members, customers, dealers and employees, the release said.
Quartes, with plants in Roeselare, Hasselt and Deinze in Belgium and its agricultural supply company Agri-Activ, hold a leading position in the compound feed sector in the country.
"Our company is focused on the future and on what's best for its customers and dealers on the one hand and its employees on the other hand," Frederic Boone, managing director Quartes, explains. "This partnership strengthens our companies strategically and is beneficial for our customers, dealers and employees."
Dick Hordijk, CEO Royal Agrifirm Group, is looking forward to the partnership: "In welcoming Quartes, we are welcoming a key player that together with Royal Agrifirm Group's branches in Drongen and Grobbendonk, will tremendously strengthen our position and that of our customers on the Belgian market." Quartes and Agri-Activ will become part of Royal Agrifirm Group over time. "Belgium is an important country in which to invest for Agrifirm."
Ronald van de Ven, director Agrifirm NWE, concurs: "We believe in the strength and quality of the livestock farmers and growers in Belgium. This partnership with Quartes will create a strong local connection with customers."
All employees will continue to work for the Quartes and Agri-Activ companies and the new management team will be constituted from representatives of all involved parties. The head office of the planned company will be established in Deinze and the branch offices will be maintained. Compound feed production will be distributed across four plants in Belgium: Roeselare, Grobbendonk, Deinze and Hasselt.
