Russia discovers listeria bacteria in Ukrainian poultry meat

Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia's Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight Service, has discovered listeria bacteria in frozen poultry meat produced by Donetsk's Tavr-Plus LLC.

Earlier reports stated that there was an excessive amount of mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic microorganisms in the products of the company, which are not recommended for consumption.

Rosselkhoznadzor then introduced enhanced controls over poultry imported to Russia by Tavr-Plus LLC.

Rosselkhoznadzor and the State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service of Ukraine previously restricted Tavr-Plus' supplies to the Customs Union states.

Tavr-Plus LLC was founded on the basis of Artemivsk meat processing plant in May 2008.
