Genencor, a division of Danisco A/S, today announced that Dr. Glenn E. Nedwin will join the Division as Executive Vice President - Technical Enzymes, effective Oct. 1, 2007. As a member of the Genencor Senior Management Team, Dr. Nedwin will head the division's activities in Grain Processing (which includes current fuel ethanol business), textiles, specialties and market development. He will report directly to Genencor's CEO Tjerk de Ruiter. 

 

Two Tokyo-based seafood suppliers have merged to form Maruha Nichiro Holdings Inc, Japan's largest seafood supplier, to better cope with a tough business environment characterised by rising fish prices and domestic market saturation, the new company said. Maruha Nichiro was created by Maruha Group Inc, which had been Japan's top seafood supplier, turning its smaller rival Nichiro Corp into a wholly owned subsidiary through a stock swap.  

 

 

Finance Director Dag Engelsvoll in Skretting Northern Europe has been appointed Business Group Controller for Skretting Salmon Feed. Business Group Skretting Salmon Feed is responsible for Skretting's feed business in Norway, UK, Ireland, Canada and Chile. Dag Engelsvoll replaces Knut Hidle, who is appointed Project Director for Business Group Skretting Salmon Feed. Engelsvoll's successor is Havard Walde, who has been appointed Finance Director for Skretting Northern Europe. Among Walde's former positions is the Director of Accounting with Pan Fish ASA where he also has worked as Controller. Walde holds both an MBA and a  degree in auditing from NHH,Norway, and comes to Skretting from the Norwegian oil company Statoil. 

  

The Trouw Nutrition International group has added a new company to its fold: PT Trouw Nutrition Indonesia. The new company, established in the first half of 2007, will take over the animal nutrition activities of PT BASF Indonesia. The Nutreco Group, the parent company of Trouw Nutrition International, acquired the animal nutrition business of BASF in 8 countries in February. PT BASF Indonesia handed over the Animal Nutrition business to PT Trouw Nutrition Indonesia on the 1st of September 2007. PT Trouw Nutrition Indonesia will be more active in adding a much wider range of animal nutrition products to the former animal nutrition business of BASF.

 

 

At the recently held Biomin Asia Nutrition Forum in Cambodia, Erich Erber,

founder of Biomin, announced the promotion of David Saunders to the

position of CEO of Biomin Asia Pacific. Previously, Saunders held the position

of Regional Sales & Marketing Director, Asia Pacific. As CEO Biomin Asia

Pacific, Saunders will work closely with Andreas Kern, CEO of Biomin Europe

Africa Middle East and Michael Eder, CEO of Biomin Americas, to lead the strategic growth initiatives of Biomin globally. Erber, previously the CEO of Biomin

Asia Pacific, will focus on the Erber Group's long term strategies.

 

Turkish poultry producer Seker Pilic, said that the company would invest US$5 million for a capacity upgrade next year. The company expects a 40-percent growth in revenues this year and a 10-percent growth in production to 61,000 tonnes, according to deputy general manager of poultry products, Emre Bor. Seker Pilic also announced plans to set up a new breeding facility in the city of Eskisehir in northwest Turkey.

 

Zhongpin Inc, a Chinese meat processing company, was honoured as the ''Top Contributor to the Chinese Meat Industry'' at the 4th IMS World Pork Conference in Nanjing, China. At the conference, Zhongpin's CEO, Zhu Xianfu, was declared one of ''The Most Influential People in the Chinese Meat Industry.'' The awards are designed to encourage the modernisation of the meat industry and to reward enterprises and entrepreneurs who contribute towards improved quality and standards in the Chinese meat industry. The conference, organised by the International Meat Secretariat (IMS) and hosted by the China Meat Association, was one of the world's biggest pork industry conferences, attracting more than 800 influential companies and industry associations from 38 countries.
