Russia Harvested 76.4 Million MT Grain To September 28
Russia harvested 76.4 million metric tons of grain to Sept. 28, compared with 67.5 million tons on the same date last year, an agriculture ministry official said Thursday.
The grain was harvested on 38 million hectares, 85.6% of the total area.
The wheat harvest to date was 44.7 million, compared with 33.8 million tons on the same date last year. The average wheat yield to date was 2.14 tons/ha, compared with 1.8/ha tons.
The agriculture ministry expects a grain harvest of 73-76 million tons.
Russia's 2003 grain harvest was 67.2 million tons in clean weight, 22.4% down on 2002.
