CP Foods targets 30% "green revenue" in 2020
Charoen Pokphand Food PCL (CP Foods) is targeting to raise its green revenue to 30% this year reflecting its efficient use of resources to alleviate the impacts to the environment, society and community, the company said in a press release.
Ms. Kularb Kimsri, vice president - CP Foods' Global Standard System Centre, says more than 770 of the company's products, including livestock feed, fresh chicken and duck, and frozen cooked duck, had been certified Carbon Reduction Label, Carbon Footprint Label in line with ISO 14067 from Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization and Waterfootprint according to ISO 14046 from the Federation of Thai Industries. The company's green revenue reached 25% of total sales in 2019.
Six of the company's chicken feed formulations helped reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 77,500 tonnes CO2 equivalent last year, equivalent to the planting of 1.28 million trees. In addition, the company's environmental-friendly swine feed innovation reduces nitrogen content in swine manure by 20-30%, equivalent to a reduction of 41,000 tonnes CO2 equivalent.
CP Foods aims to reduce GHG emissions per production unit by 25% in 2025 compared to 2015.
