Vietnam reports two more blue ear disease outbreaks

 

Vietnam reported blue ear disease in Phu Yen and Ninh Thuan provinces, bringing total localities affected by the disease to 32, the Department of Animal Health said Wednesday (Sep 29).

 

In Phu Yen, 125 pigs in one household became infected with the disease and were destroyed. Blue ear disease appeared in 34 households of 11 communes of Ninh Thuan with 324 infected pigs. Of the total, 72 pigs died or were destroyed, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said.

 

According to them, local authorities in these provinces are taking prevention measures to curb the spread of the disease.

 

At present, blue ear disease is reported in Vietnam's 31 provinces and one municipality out of the combined 63 provinces and municipalities.
