Colombia Resumes Import Of Fresh Argentine Beef

After a two year ban, the government of Colombia has allowed the import of fresh Argentine beef, Argentina's animal and food healthy agency, Senasa, said Monday.

"Colombia, which closed its market to fresh, refrigerated or frozen boneless Argentine beef in September of 2001, announced that it will again buy the product," Senasa said in a statement.

All Argentine beef exported to Colombia must be accompanied by a "sanitary certificate" that confirms the beef does not come from any kind of establishment that has been under quarantine for foot-and-mouth disease within the past 30 days, Senasa said.
