US turkey number down eight percent on-year
So far this year, turkeys raised in the US declined eight percent on-year to 250 million, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
Six states are expected to account for about two-thirds of the turkeys produced in the US this year.
Minnesota's production is down five percent on-year to 45.5 million; North Carolina down six percent to 37.5 million; Arkansas down 10 percent at 28 million; Missouri unchanged from last year at 21 million; Virginia down nine percent at 16.4 million; and California down six percent at 15 million.
