Two more African swine cases confirmed in Germany among wild boar
Germany has confirmed a further two African swine fever (ASF) cases, bringing the total cases to 34 and all among wild boar in Brandenburg state, east Germany, Reuters reported.
No cases have been detected among farm livestock. The ASF cases were confirmed by Germany's Friedrich-Loeffler scientific institute.
China, Japan and South Korea have banned German pork imports since the first ASF case was reported on September 10. China's pork prices have continued to rise.
Julia Kloeckner, Germany's Federal Agriculture Minister said they will consider providing aid to farmers after pork prices fell.
The Brandenburg state government said it will relax harvest and field world restrictions in the ASF affected area, but only if fields have been inspected for wild boar carcasses. Harvests were halted as it was feared the wild boar will run from farm vehicles, causing the disease to spread.
