Romania to reap 11 million tonnes of corn
Romania is expecting to harvest 10.9 million tonnes of corn this year, up 21% on- year, and it has already harvested 3.6 million tonnes from 31% of the total area, the agriculture ministry said Tuesday (Sep 27).
Romania, produced the second largest harvest in the EU after France with an output of 9 million tonnes last year.
"Yields we've gotten so far stood at 4.49 tonnes per hectare which is an improvement from last season," an agriculture ministry official handling crop data told Reuters.
The official said harvesting was expected to complete in the next two weeks.
Romania put about 2.6 million hectares under corn.
