Ukraine to cut meat imports in 2010; dairy products to grow
Ukraine will reduce imports of meat and meat products in 2010, while dairy imports will increase, according to forecast data in the state programme for economic and social development 2010.
The programme said next year's dairy imports will increase to 250,000 tonnes against the 240,000 tonnes forecasted this year.
Ukraine's dairy exports in 2010 are seen to reach one million tonnes against 907,000 tonnes this year. Domestic production will increase by 100,000 tonnes to 11.75 million tonnes.
Imports of meat and meat products next year will total 260,000 tonnes, down from 350,000 tonnes forecasted this year.
Exports will amount to 30,000 tonnes, up from 25,000 tonnes this year. Production in 2010 will rise to 2.16 million tonnes against 1.9 million tonnes this year.
