Brazil's swine slaughter at 13.04 million head in Q2 2021

Brazil's swine slaughter totaled 13.04 million head in the second quarter of 2021, a record in the historical series that began in 1997, according to data from livestock production statistics published by IBGE.

This represents an increase of 7.6% compared to the same period in 2020 and a 2.9% increase compared to the first quarter of 2021.

Record exports of fresh pork, with peak foreign sales in June, helped make this possible.
