Russian grain production shows increase
Russia produced 84.7 million tonnes of grains, an increase of 27.7 million tonnes compared to the same period last year.
Agrarians harvested grains and leguminous crops throughout the areas of 36.6 million hectares, or 82.9% of the planned areas. Grain yield increased to the level of 23.1 c/ha against 19 c/ha last year. However, the present year index is lower by 0.9 c/ha compared to the yield in 2009, according to data of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Agricultural enterprises of the Central Federal District harvested grains throughout 88.8% of the areas, and produced 16.2 million tonnes of grains, as opposed to 10.1 million tonnes in 2010, and 21.6 million tonnes in 2009. In the present year, grain yield totalled 24.4 c/ha against 18.8 c/ha in 2010, and 29.9 c/ha in 2009.
Agricultural enterprises of the Southern District harvested grains throughout 88.5% of the planned areas. The average yield totalled 32.5 c/ha (30.9 c/ha in 2010 and 30.3 c/ha in 2009). The production volumes totalled 20.3 million tonnes of grains, up 1.5 million tonnes compared to the corresponding period of 2010 and 2009.
The North Caucasian District harvested grains throughout 86% of the areas. The production volumes totalled 8.8 million tonnes, against 7.7 million tonnes in the previous two years each. Grain yield in the present year reached 37.2 c/ha as opposed to 32.1 c/ha in 2010, and 30.6 c/ha in 2009.
In the current year the Volga District, this faced the largest grain losses last year due to the droughts, returns to traditional annual averages. Agrarians of the district produced 21 million tonnes of grains against 21.7 million tonnes in the same date in 2009. On the same date last year agrarians harvested 6.7 million tonnes of grains only because of the drought. The District harvested grains throughout 85.1% of the areas. The average yield totalled 19.8 c/ha against 10.1 c/ha in 2010, and 19.9 c/ha in 2009.
Agricultural enterprises of the Siberian District exceeded all indices of 2010 and 2009 periods. Agrarians harvested grains throughout 80.8% of the areas, and produced 12.6 million tonnes of grains against 9.9 million tonnes last year, and 10.3 million tonnes in 2009. In 2011, the average yield totalled 15.6 c/ha against 15 c/ha in 2010, and 19.9 c/ha in 2009.
The Urals District harvested grains throughout nearly 58% of the areas, and produced 4.7 million tonnes against 3.3 million tonnes in 2010, and 4 million tonnes in 2009. The average yield in the District totalled 21.8 c/ha as opposed to 12.9 c/ha in 2010, and 15.2 c/ha in 2009.
The Far Eastern Federal District produced 495.4 thousand tonnes of grains, up 300 thousand tonnes compared to the same period last year.
The North western District harvested 529.1 thousand tonnes of grains against 452.3 thousand tonnes in 2010.
According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture, the general grain production in 2011 will reach the level of nearly 90 million tonnes against 60.9 million tonnes in 2010, and 97 million tonnes in 2009.
