Skretting closes Chilean fish feed facility

Skretting Chile will optimise utilisation of production capacity in Chile by temporarily concentrating its fish feed production in two plants.

The current shutdown for maintenance of the plant in Pargua, one of the three Skretting plants in Chile, will be extended until the Chilean farming industry has recovered from the impact of the current salmon disease outbreaks. This measure will affect approximately 50 employees in Chile.

The salmon farming industry in Chile is cooperating with the Chilean authorities to improve conditions at farming sites, which is expected to lead to a gradual recovery of salmon production.

Skretting is an international leader in the production and supply of feed for farmed fish, with its annual production amounting to 1.3 million tonnes. Skretting is a part of Nutreco; an international company in the animal nutrition and fish feed markets.
