Pakistan to import poultry from India
Soaring poultry prices have compelled the Pakistani government to pass a decision for beginning poultry imports from India.
Expressing willingness for poultry exports to Pakistan, the Amritsar Poultry Association in India termed it a landmark for bilateral trade between the two countries.
A live hen is available in Amritsar at Rs 40-45/kg (US$0.91-1.02), and the price of eggs ranges from Rs 21 to Rs 23 a dozen. In contrast, in Rawalpindi in Pakistan's Punjab province , a live hen is sold at Rs 70-80/kg, while eggs are sold from Rs 36 to Rs 38 a dozen.
