Russia's 2004-2005 Grain Exports Seen 8-10 Million MT

The Russian Agriculture Ministry has increased its 2004-2005 grain export forecast to 8-10 million metric tons from the previous estimate of four million tons, the Agriculture Minister Alexey Gordeyev said in Moscow Thursday, according to the agriculture ministry's Web site.

Gordeyev is quoted as saying, "We'll harvest this year more traditional export crops, wheat and barley. We have recently increased our grain harvest forecast to 76 million tons from the previous forecast of 73-76 million tons, which enabled us to increase our export plans."
