Stricter Anti-Dumping Rules May Be Imposed On Vietnam's Shrimp

The US's Department of Commerce (DOC) has proposed stricter anti-dumping rules imposed on shrimp exporters from "non-market economies", according to a source from the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Shrimp businesses from countries such as Viet Nam and China will be required to provide documents and certificates proving that they are qualified to enjoy special tax levels. It is clear that this requirement cannot be fully met by businesses while investigation into the anti-dumping lawsuit is under way.

Furthermore, the DOC proposed imposing anti-dumping duties on both exporters and producers.

DOC also proposed that anti-dumping taxes be imposed on producers in non-market economies who sell their products to the US market through a third country, but not on exporters from the third country.
