Russia's grain exports rise 14.2% to 7.872 million tonnes
 

 

Between July 1 and September 18, Russia's grain exports totalled 7.872 million tonnes, 14.2% more than in the corresponding period last year.

 

The federal statistics service said grain exports during the first 18 days of September totalled 1.855 million tonnes, including 1.606 million tonnes of wheat, 179,000 tonnes of barley, 59,000 tonnes of corn and 10,000 tonnes of other grains.

 

The agriculture ministry expects this year's grain harvest to rise to 88 million-90 million tonnes from 71.7 million tonnes in 2012 when crops were damaged by drought.

 

In the 2012-13 marketing year, Russia's grain exports fell to 15.69 million tonnes from 27.2 million tonnes in the previous marketing year. In the current marketing year July 2013-June 2014, the agriculture ministry expects Russia's grain exports to rise to 18 million-20 million tonnes.
