Indonesia's West Kalimantan bans Malaysian poultry

Indonesia's West Kalimantan province has banned poultry imports from Malaysia as a precautionary measure against the spread of bird flu, a local official said.

Although West Kalimantan had never exported poultry to Malaysia, unofficial poultry trade between the two places could not be ruled out, he added.

Meanwhile, he said local poultry and poultry egg production was sufficient to meet the province's needs.
