Germany reports three more African swine fever cases

Germany's Federal Agriculture Ministry said three additional African swine fever (ASF) cases have been confirmed among wild boar in Brandenburg state, east Germany, making the total number of ASF cases to 32, Reuters reported.

All the cases have been detected in Brandenburg and no farm livestock have been infected.

The Friedrich-Loeffler scientific institute confirmed the ASF cases, according to the ministry.

China, Japan and South Korea have imposed bans on German pork imports following the first ASF discovery on September 10.

There are plans to construct a fixed fence by the Brandenburg regional government to stop wild boar entering Germany from neighbouring Poland.

Pork prices in Germany was stable with hopes of boosted exports to the European Union. Other EU exporters have filled the gap to export pork to China and other Asian countries.
