Canadian Pink Salmon At Risk
The Canadian Department of Fisheries has released figures showing a drastic decline in salmon stocks in seven rivers throughout the country, prompting alarm among other developed country leaders and conservationists.
Stocks of pink salmon in Canada's Broughton Archipelago are looking healthy but upstream rivers have been depleted of salmon for two years running now. The blame has been put on an epidemic of sea lice in fish farms close to the streams, which is purported to infect and kill juvenile wild salmon.
