Portugal sees 4.1% year-on-year drop in number of pigs imported for slaughter in H1 2024

 
 

 

Portugal's import of pigs for slaughter decreased by 4.1% in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, from 518,105 head last year to 497,010 head this year.

 

The country's import of pork and pork products increased by 4.3% from 94,481 tonnes in 2023 to 98,579 tonnes in 2024.

 

Frozen pork increased by 2.3% from 12,208 tonnes last year to 12,486 tonnes in 2024. Fresh/chilled pork increased by 6.6%, from 34,536 tonnes in 2023 to 36,821 tonnes in 2024. Offal decreased from 711 tonnes in 2023 to 584 tons in 2024.
