Thai ministry, CP Foods sign MoU to employ 8,000 graduates, develop food entrepreneurs

 

 

Thailand's Ministry of Labour and Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CP Foods) jointly signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the employment of 8,000 new graduates, upskill franchisees of FiveStar Business and Discount Coupon from the "Heart to Self-Insurance People Project" in an attempt to curb unemployment and bolster economy for a post-pandemic economy.

 

Suthi Sukosol, Labour Permanent Secretary, and Prasit Boondoungprasert, CEO of CP Foods, signed the MoU for the three projects in Bangkok. Labor Minister Suchart Chomklin and Adirek Sripratak,CP Foods' chairman of the executive committee, were also at the signing.

 

Chomklin said the government has a policy to unite all sectors of the society to revive the economy from the COVID-19 crisis that has caused job losses and unemployment, significantly affecting new graduates.

 

Chomklin added that CP Foods has been constantly supporting the government in COVID-19 relief efforts since the beginning of the outbreak. The post-COVID-19 collaboration will create stability for people at all level and building more small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) owners that are the foundation of the Thai economy. Moreover, the discount coupon giveaway from CP Foods will help reduce cost of living for people who are eligible for social security benefits.

 

Boondoungprasert said CP Foods is managed in line with CP Group CEO Suphachai Chearavanont's policy to alleviate Thailand's unemployment, particularly among new graduates, by creating jobs opportunities and strengthening job security.

 

Under the MoU, CP Foods will hire 8,000 jobs, including 4,000 in Bangkok and metropolitan areas and 4,000 more in the upcountry, with job offers covering upstream through downstream business, such as veterinary, animal husbandry, engineering, science, research, food and beverage and several positions in the computer science field to develop CP Food's smart farming and factory.
