Thailand's CP Foods receives royal recognition for outstanding labour management at aquatic operations

Thailand's Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CP Foods) has been honoured with the country's royal recognition for its exemplary labour management practices at two of its aquatic business operations in Thailand, AquaFeed reported.

Thailand's Princess Sirindhorn presented the prestigious Thailand Labour Management Excellence Award 2024 to CP Foods' Ban Bueng Aqua Feed Mill, located in Chonburi province, and the Tha Bon Shrimp Hatchery in Songkhla province. These awards, conferred by the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare under the Ministry of Labour, highlight the two facilities as models of outstanding labour management systems.

The award ceremony, held at the Ministry of Labour, was presided over by Labour Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn. Representatives from both the Ban Bueng Aqua Feed Mill and Tha Bon Shrimp Hatchery were present to accept the royal accolades. Additionally, CP Foods' JR 2-3 Shrimp Hatchery in Trat province achieved the highest honour for outstanding labour relations and welfare for the 20th consecutive year.

The Ban Bueng Aqua Feed Mill and Tha Bon Shrimp Hatchery received this recognition based on their performance in three key areas: attaining the highest level of certification under the Thai Labour Standard (TLS 8001), excelling in labour relations and welfare, and maintaining high standards in occupational safety, health, and the work environment.

A particularly noteworthy achievement of both facilities is the accomplishment of a zero-accident record for the entire year, significantly enhancing workplace safety and improving employees' overall quality of life. These efforts have helped to boost stakeholder confidence and set a benchmark for organisations across the country.

CP Foods credits its employees as the driving force behind the company's success and long-term sustainability. The company is dedicated to socially responsible business practices, ensuring fair and equal treatment of all employees in line with human rights principles. CP Foods also encourages its operational sites, including farms and factories, to develop labour management systems that comply with both Thai labour standards and international guidelines.

Since 2021, CP Foods' shrimp business operations, including the Ban Bueng Aqua Feed Mill and Tha Bon Shrimp Hatchery, have maintained certification under the Thai Labour Standard TLS 8001:2020. These facilities consistently adhere to these standards and are subjected to rigorous verifications in line with international benchmarks.

This latest recognition adds to CP Foods' history of excellence in labour management. In previous years, other CP Foods operations have also been awarded Royal Awards for Outstanding Labour Management, including the JR 2-3 Shrimp Hatchery in Trat province in 2019 and the Pathiu Shrimp Hatchery in Chumphon province in 2021.
