Seven more African swine fever cases confirmed in Germany
Germany's federal agriculture ministry said a further seven more African swine fever (ASF) cases have been detected in Brandenburg state, east Germany, Reuters reported.
This brings the total ASF cases to 20, all focused in Brandenburg state bordering Poland. All the cases were detected among wild boar, with no farm livestock affected.
The Friedrich-Loeffler scientific institute confirmed the latest ASF cases.
The ministry warned that there will be more confirmed ASF cases among wild boar as the disease is highly contagious.
China, Japan, and South Korea have banned pork imports from Germany. German authorities are in discussions with China to establish a regional pork import ban covering only livestock disease affected areas instead of a nationwide ban.
