Israeli company to build factory for fish feeds in Nigeria
Dizengoff, an Israeli agricultural machines manufacturer, has announced plans for a factory to produce extruded floating fish feeds in Nigeria.
The company would develop the brand to a level that would guarantee the feasibility of the factory once it began production, the company's general manager in charge of Agriculture and Engineering, Dr Tomi Asuni said.
Asuni said that once there was availability of feed at an affordable price, attention would be shifted to fish farming and aqua culture.
Quality fish feeds produces quality fish, Asuni said, adding that although some farmers may think it is expensive to feed fish, it is actually a lot cheaper to feed them properly to get quality results.
Asuni said the company would seek to educate the farmer to achieve better results and enable them to compete against imports.
Israeli experts said that extruded floating feed boosts digestion of carbohydrates and protein, reduces anti-nutritional factor and decreases the level of pollutant in the pond.
