Brazil's pork exports kept at 11.53% high in volume in first eight months of 2021
Brazil's pork exports maintained a high of 11.53% in volumes in the first eight months of 2021, compared to the same period last year, according to a survey by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).
The survey indicates a total of 756,500 tonnes between January and August this year, against 678,300 tonnes in 2020. In revenue, pork sales reached US$1.805 billion, up 21.3% from US$1.488 billion in the same period in 2020.
Considering only the month of August, 91,000 tonnes of pork were exported, down 7.5% compared to the same period last year, when 98,500 tonnes were shipped. In revenue, the sector saw stability, with US$ 209.1 million in August this year, against US$209.2 million in the previous year.
China remained the main destination for Brazilian exports, with 391,100 tonnes imported between January and August, 17% higher than in the same period in 2020. Other countries that stand out are Chile, with 43,400 tonnes (+76%), the Philippines with 15,900 tonnes (+203%) and Argentina with 19,200 tonnes (+88%).
Santa Catarina is Brazil's leading exporting state, with 380,900 tonnes exported between January and August, up 10% compared to the same period in 2020.
