Another six African swine fever cases confirmed in Germany
Germany's federal agriculture ministry said they have confirmed a further six African swine fever (ASF) cases among wild boars in Brandenburg state, east Germany, Reuters reported.
This brings the total ASF cases discovered to 13. All cases are limited to Brandenburg and have only been detected among wild boars, not farm livestock.
The ASF cases were confirmed by Germany's Friedrich-Loeffler scientific institute.
The ministry said more ASF cases may be confirmed in Brandenburg state among wild boars as the disease is highly infectious.
China, Japan and South Korea have banned pork imports from Germany. The German government are in discussions with its major pork importers to impose a restricted regional ban covering Brandenburg, rather than a nationwide ban.
