China's pork demand and supply to be more balanced in Q4 2020
An official from China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said pork demand and supply in the country is set to become more balanced in the fourth quarter this year as swine production steadily recovers, Xinhua reported.
China's swine population last month increased 31.3% year-on-year, while sow inventory was up 37% year-on-year.
Ministry data showed 2,030 swine farms began operations in August, with a total of 11,123 swine farms in operation.
Pork prices in China since August have stabilised because of improved supply.
The official said average pork prices in China could drop in the fourth quarter of the year compared to same period in 2019 as supply continues to increase.
