China's corn imports skyrocket in August
China imported 432,191 tonnes of corn in August, more than double the volume that arrived in July, data supplied by China Customs Statistics (CCS) Information Centre showed Monday (Sep 20).
The country also imported 90,221 tonnes of wheat last month, according to data supplied by CCS Information Centre, Hong Kong.
China's corn import volume saw a 56-fold increase to 282,000 tonnes during the first half of this year while import volume in July soared to 194,000 tonnes, according to data issued by China's Ministry of Agriculture.
