Ukraine's grain production to reach 40 million tonnes
In the current year, grain production in Ukraine will total 40 million tonnes, according to analysts of the investment group Sokrat.
As of September 20, agricultural enterprises harvested crops throughout 86% of the planned areas, or 14.7 million ha. Thus, according to the experts, grain production volumes will total 40 million tonnes, a decrease of 13% compared to the results of the previous year.
According to the analytical review, the reduction of grain sowing areas by 5%, and the fall of yield indices by 9% due to the unfavourable weather conditions caused such decrease of grain production volumes.
Meanwhile, according to the recent forecast of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine on September 15, grain production in Ukraine in 2010 is expected at the level of 38.6 million tonnes.
