French hog farmers to protest stagnant pork prices

French pig producers in France are planning demonstrations at major supermarket chains to protest their refusal to offer higher prices to farmers.

The price changes are necessary to compensate for increased feed prices, the French national pork federation FNP said.

Producers have reached their limits, and costs should be reflected in selling prices, they said.

According to the FNP, there is plenty of room for price increases, predominantly in the fresh pork market.

The organisation has called on its members to protest at the retail chain stores and pork processing companies to unite to revive the market.
