EU Delays Decision On Imports Of A Variety Of Modified Corn
The European Union on Monday delayed a decision on allowing imports of a gene-modified corn variety made by Monsanto of the United States, thereby slowing expansion of the biotechnology market.
The European Commission, the EU's executive arm, withdrew a proposal to permit the corn's use in animal feed after some national environmental regulators requested more safety information. No new date was set for a decision on the MON863 corn, which protects against rootworm.
