Iran poultry meat output on the rise
Official slaughterhouses in Iran produced 177,408 tonnes of poultry meat in the fifth month of the current fiscal year (July 23 to August 22, 2022), a 5% increase over the output in the preceding month, Financial Tribune reported.
The Iranian Statistical Centre said that when compared to the same period last year, the production volume increased by 8%.
173,719 tonnes of chickens were produced, making up 97.9% of the overall output.
The period saw the production of turkey, quail, ostrich, and partridge among other poultry species.
In the fiscal year 2021–2022, 2.15 million tonnes of poultry were produced (ended March 20).
During the year, 2.1 million tonnes of chickens were produced, making up 97.6% of the total output.
The production of chicken meat (hen and rooster) in Golestan Province reached 228,000 tonnes in 2017.
Top producers of other poultry during the year included Isfahan Province with 8,423 tonnes of turkey meat, Yazd Province with 1,087 tonnes of quail meat, West Azerbaijan Province with 644 tonnes of ostrich meat, and Alborz Province with 7,101 tonnes of various other poultry meats (egg-laying and broiler chicken and partridge).
