Kent Nutrition to start US$37 million expansion of Iowa feed mill

Kent Nutrition Group (KNG) broke ground on September 14 for the US$37 million expansion of its Sheldon feed mill in Iowa, US, which will operated by its subsidiary, Deluxe Feeds Inc.

The 20-month project, to be completed by late 2019, will feature new operation and support sites, specifically: five new pellet mills, two new processing lines, a 50,000-sq-ft warehouse space, and the installation of high-efficiency packaging equipment, robotic palletizers, and other equipment, Powder & Bulk Solids reported.

Swine, dairy and beef producers in southeastern South Dakota, southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa are the focus of the future plant's services.

"This new, state-of-the-art feed mill with its extended capabilities will increase capacity and versatility so we can continue to produce our quality animal nutrition products," said Mike Gauss, vice president of operations at KNG.

In a June press statement, John Thorpe, KNG's president, commented that the expansion will help the company to grow its business "in order to be more responsive to customers' changing needs and provide them with trusted brands, quality products, and outstanding service."
