Vietnam is world's fourth largest rising aquatic producer
Vietnam has been cited as the world's fourth largest aquatic producer in 2003, said Food and Agriculture Organisation's seafood statistic expert Alan Lowther.
China tops the list of top 40 aquatic-raising countries in terms of aquaculture area and output with 29 million tonnes of aquatic productivity, making up 68 percent of the world's aquatic production. India and Indonesia take second and third place respectively.
Vietnam produces 937,000 tonnes of aquatic products, about 60,000 tonnes less than Indonesia. However, Vietnam's aquatic value is bigger.
These top 40 countries make up 99 percent of total global seafood output and 97.5 percent of the international aquaculture sector's estimated overall value.
Among the world's top 10 aquatic-raising countries are Japan, Bangladesh, Thailand, Norway, Chile and the US.
