Russia imports more US poultry for January to July 2005

Russia has imported 394,200 tonnes of broiler meat from the US for January to July 2005, up 18 percent compared with the same period the previous year, the USA Poultry and Egg Exporting Council (USAPEEC) said.

From January to July, the corresponding import value reached US$298.8 million, up 21 percent compared with the same period the previous year.

In July this year alone, Russia reportedly imported 73,700 tonnes of broiler meat, up 37 percent and 74 percent, compared with the same period the previous year and June 2005 respectively.

Russia also reportedly remains the largest importer of US poultry.
