Mad Cow Disease No Longer A Threat In Italy

In Italy, the Mad Cow disease is no longer a threat.

Officials say the phenomenon has been strictly monitored, and the number of cases has dropped considerably. Only 123 cases were detected out of over 2.5 million tests during the past three years.

Currently, the risk of contracting the mad cow disease is 10% lower in Italy than in Holland, France, Belgium, UK and Spain. Moreover, about 300,000 cattle head didn't undergo tests in France before being marketed, while such figure dropped to 2,000 cattle head in Italy.
