Brazil's grain production for 2021/22 harvest at estimated 271.2 million tonnes

Brazil has produced an estimated 271.2 million tonnes of grain in its 2021/22 harvest, an increase of almost 14.5 million tonnes.
The country's grain production in the 2021/22 harvest was estimated at 271.2 million tonnes, an increase of almost 14.5 million tonnes compared to the previous season, as shown in the 12th Grain Crop Survey published on September 8 by the National Supply Company (Conab).
Production of the main product cultivated, soy, was marked by high temperatures in important producing regions in Brazil, such as Paraná, Santa Catarina and part of Mato Grosso do Sul. This adverse weather condition had a severe impact on productivity, influencing the drop in production. In Rio Grande do Sul, for example, the recorded drop exceeded 50%. In this scenario, the harvest in the country is estimated at 125.6 million tonnes, a reduction of approximately 10% in relation to the 2020/21 harvest.
In the case of corn, there was a recovery in total production with an estimated harvest of 113.2 million tonnes, which represents a 30% increase compared to the previous season. While, in the first crop, there was certain stability in production at 24.9 million tonnes due to unfavorable weather conditions, especially in southern Brazilian states, the second crop was marked by a recovery in production, around 41.8%, estimated at 86.1 million tonnes.
