Azerbaijan fish farm becomes first sturgeon caviar producer to achieve BAP certification

Azerbaijan Fish Farm LLC has attained the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification, making it the world's first sturgeon breeding farm with a specialised focus on caviar production to earn this recognition, Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) reported.
Founded in 2017, the company's noteworthy approaches include the utilisation of a Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS), the cage culture model, and advanced seaside tanks, all of which contribute to the well-being of fish during their incubation and early life stages.
Azerbaijan Fish Farm's distinctive advantage lies in its ability to combine freshwater from the Kura River with saltwater from the Caspian Sea, mirroring the natural habitat of sturgeons. This unique approach is pivotal in ensuring the premium quality of caviar produced by the company.
Azerbaijan Fish Farm is committed to eco-friendly practices and conservation initiatives. The company actively organises fish release events, releasing ten sturgeons into their natural habitat for every jar of caviar sold. This initiative contributes significantly to the preservation of the critically endangered sturgeon populations native to the Caspian Sea, underscoring AFF's unwavering dedication to ecosystem preservation.
Presently, Azerbaijan Fish Farm exports its premium caviar worldwide, including the USA, UAE, Singapore, Hong Kong, and more. The BAP certification serves as a testament to AFF's ongoing sustainability endeavours, reiterating its pledge to responsible caviar production.
