Farm in Smolensk Oblast, Russia to boost production of chicken eggs to one million daily
The Olenskaya Smetanino Poultry Farm in Smolensk Oblast, Russia, will increase the production of chicken eggs to one million pieces per day, which is 1.5 times more than its current volume, said the governor of the region, Vasily Anokhin, on his Telegram channel.
The company will invest more than ₽950 million (US$10.6 million) to expand production. The project is being implemented within the framework of an agreement signed in June this year at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
"The company has now begun the active construction of two poultry houses with a total area of 9.3 thousand square meters for 520 thousand heads of laying hens," said Anokhin. "By the end of the year, the construction of a large and modern egg warehouse will be completed. Also, a new egg sorting machine has already been launched, capable of processing up to 180 thousand eggs per hour."
To develop its own feed base, authorities helped the poultry farm to obtain federal land plots with an area of more than 3.8 thousand hectares without bidding.
"The expansion of production at the Smetanino Poultry Farm will be completed in 2025. The regional government will continue to assist the investor for the successful implementation of the project," Anokhin said.
