China set to auction another 20,000 tonnes of frozen pork
The China Merchandise Reserve Management Centre said it will auction a further 20,000 tonnes of frozen pork from the country's state reserves on September 18, Reuters reported.
The centre has already released 550,000 tonnes of frozen pork from state reserves since the beginning of the year, meant to supplement dwindling supplies of the meat and soaring record pork prices caused by African swine fever outbreaks.
China's measures to resume domestic pork production has also been hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
