Armenian pigs struck by ASF
The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) announced two African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreaks in Armenian feral pigs.
The OIE received the follow-up report on the September 13. Information received by the OIE was from the Food Safety and Veterinary State Inspectorate, Ministry of Agriculture, Yerevan, Armenia.
According to OIE, the affected were feral pigs in a forest, in Lori. In the first outbreak, 8 cases were identified, with 3 deaths and 5 were destroyed. In the second outbreak, 26 feral pigs were positive for ASF with 19 deaths and 7 destroyed.
The outbreaks occurred on August 30, according to the OIE. Meanwhile, the investigation continues, as no source has yet been determined.
