Cargill Seeking Ship For Soymeal Cargo From US To Australia

Cargill was reported to be seeking tonnage on the freight market this week to ship a cargo of soymeal from the U.S. to Australia.

The charterer quoted an order of 35,000 metric tons of soymeal for Nov. 1 - 15 shipment from the U.S. Gulf to east coast Australia.

Shipbrokers said this was an "unusual move."

Last December, an Australian charterer Hunter, entered the market with 35,000 metric tons of soybeans and soymeal for January to February shipment from the Mississippi River to Australia.

Then, a severe drought in Australia had caused the country, which was one of the largest wheat exporters, to start importing grain as its own grain production was curtailed.
